He was obviously and immediately captivated by this magnificent 18th century chateau situated on the best soil of Fronsadais.

As early as the first vintage, Jean Halley demonstrated his determination to let the terroir express itself by using all means necessary both in the vineyard and the cellar, to create the highest quality wines Though the vineyard was in good condition at the time he purchased La Dauphine, the technical facilities were not suitable to meet Jean Halley’s ambitions.
He therefore restructured all of the installations using the latest innovations. In the circular vat room, the feed conveyor pivots and tips the grapes in vats of small capacity using simple gravity, thus allowing each plot to be vinified in its own vat).

Without any excessive use of technology, the vinification remains in the definitive “tradition bordelaise” entirely devoted to the respect of the fruit. The new cellar was inaugurated with the 2002 vintage.
